HARI-OM, Inc. ("we," "us," "our," "HARI-OM") is a Delaware nonprofit corporation recognized as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. Our EIN is 37-2169652 and our registered address is 640 Lewes Landing Rd, Middletown, DE 19709.
This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect through our website (thehariom.org) and in-person programs, and how we use and protect that information.
2.Information we collect
Information you provide voluntarily
- Name, email address, phone number, and mailing address when you contact us, RSVP to events, sign up for classes, or make inquiries
- Information about your family members if you register them for programs (e.g., children's class enrollment)
- Correspondence content when you email us or submit a form
- Event registration and attendance records
- Donation information (once online giving is enabled — handled by a third-party payment processor)
Information collected automatically
Our web host (Hostinger) may automatically log standard technical information such as:
- IP address
- Browser type and version
- Pages visited and time of visit
- Referring website
This information is used for security monitoring and troubleshooting, not for tracking individual users.
3.What we don't collect
Because we value privacy, we have chosen not to use:
- Advertising cookies or tracking pixels
- Third-party tracking services (Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, etc.) at this time
- Social media tracking integrations
- Any system that sells, rents, or shares your data with advertisers or data brokers
If we adopt any such tools in the future, we will update this policy and notify users.
4.How we use your information
We use your information only for purposes related to our nonprofit mission:
- Responding to your inquiries and communications
- Informing you about events, classes, and programs you've expressed interest in
- Processing donations and sending tax receipts (when online giving is available)
- Coordinating event logistics (e.g., contacting registered attendees about changes)
- Complying with legal obligations including IRS reporting and state nonprofit filings

We do not sell your information. We share it only in these limited circumstances:

These services have their own privacy policies. HARI-OM has no control over and takes no responsibility for the privacy practices of linked sites. When you leave our website, please review the privacy policy of any third-party site before providing any information.
7.Children's privacy (COPPA)
Our website is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them through the website. In compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA):
- We do not request or collect personal information from children under 13 via the website
- For our in-person children's programs (ages 6-14), we collect only the information parents voluntarily provide during registration, with explicit parental consent
- We do not use children's information for any purpose other than program administration
- We do not share children's information with third parties except as required by law
If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13 online, please contact us immediately at info@thehariom.org so we can delete it.
8.Your rights
Regardless of where you live, you have the right to:
- Request access to the personal information we have about you
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your information (subject to legal retention requirements for nonprofit records)
- Opt out of email communications at any time (reply "unsubscribe" to any email, or contact us directly)
- Withdraw consent to data processing where consent was the legal basis

9.California residents (CCPA)
California residents have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and related laws, including:
- The right to know what personal information is collected, used, shared, or sold
- The right to delete personal information (subject to exceptions)
- The right to opt out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell personal information)
- The right to non-discrimination for exercising these rights

If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA) or United Kingdom, you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) including:

Our legal basis for processing is typically (a) your consent, (b) performance of a service you requested, or (c) our legitimate interest in operating the nonprofit.

We take reasonable administrative, technical, and physical precautions to protect your information, including secure hosting, limited internal access, and reasonable password practices. However, no system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security of data transmitted over the internet. You provide information at your own risk.
12.Data retention
We keep your information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy, or as required by law:
- General inquiries — typically 2 years
- Event registrations — through the end of the program year plus 1 year
- Donation records — at least 7 years (required for IRS compliance)
- Governance records (board members, officers) — permanently retained
13.Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. Material changes will be posted here with an updated "Last updated" date at the top. For significant changes, we will attempt to notify known contacts directly. Your continued use of our website or participation in our programs after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
